A Rousing Success

Dubbed the Imagination Conference, the 2012 summer gathering of the fourth district of the American Advertising Federation, held this weekend at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota, was a rousing success. Attendance was great. All the speakers did an excellent job. We enjoyed hilarious entertainment by the Lazy Fairy Improve Troupe. And we went on a pub “Crawl to Remember” where a potion of the proceeds will support our “We CAN” public service campaign dedicated to Curing Alzheimer’s Now.

This wonderful event could not have happened without our many volunteers and sponsors, but first of all I’d like to thank our Immediate Past Governor of the AAF Fourth District, Nairn’ Gillet, who without his dedication to the organization and leadership of the past president’s advisory group that took on this project, it just wouldn’t have been as awesome as it was.

Props to the Hyatt and their staff as the venue proved to be ideal for our needs and we were well taken care of all weekend long – even when we were kicked out of our hospitality suite, on both nights, for being too loud, and allowing us to move our party into the lobby with our booze, and our music, and our crazy guests doing body shots in the library.

Thanks again to the past president’s for sponsoring the hospitality suite. I have a couple bottles of vodka left over so you’re welcome to stop by for a drink after work. Thanks to C1 Bank for sponsoring our trolley ride. I would also like to thank Sign Zoo for printing our signage and Publix for donating our goodies bags. I’m sure we had a few other sponsors, but I can’t recall them all at this moment.

As for our volunteers who planned, designed, organized, communicated, registered, photographed, bartended and made this event happen, it is a long list of dedicated members who I am deeply thankful to have working for AAF-Suncoast. If this sounds like something that you would like to be a part of, join now and get involved with our next event – Dodge Ball!

Until next week,

Matthew Anderson, President

You are too kind. It was a blast and, indeed, a good time WAS had by all. My personal thanks to all who helped make the Imagination Conference take wings and soar with the eagles.
